  • After climbing the 300 steps to the top of Golden Mount, also known as Wat Saket, and back down again, I stumbled jello-legged across Boripat Road to a small shop for a much-needed coffee. I walked back outside, looked down, and saw the most beautiful sidewalk I’ve ever seen. It was this repeating tile grid of squares and echoing quarter circles in a rich, worn terracotta that created these larger interlocking soft-edged squares. It was a perfect design and not surprisingly, I immediately saw a quilt in it.
