THE SCRAP COLLECTION

an exercise in sustainability and creativity

A limited edition, one of a kind Collection of quilted goods thoughtfully designed and handmade by our production team using only the leftover fabric scraps we’ve accumulated over the last year.

In 2018, the U.S. generated

17 million tons of textile waste, with 11.3 million tons ending up in landfills and only 2.5 million tons recycled, when 95% of all textile waste can be recycled or repurposed.

With our commitment to sustainability, we have no desire to contribute more textile waste to landfills, so for as long as we’ve been making quilts, our entire production team has been holding onto each and every leftover scrap of fabric with the intention of repurposing them into something beautiful and useful.

Since 2021, we’ve finally been able to put those scraps to good use.

So we got creative

Each and every one of the quilters and seamstresses that works with Vacilando is wildly creative and talented, so why not give them some creative freedom and see what they would create out of the leftover fabric they had lying around?

We gave them carte blanche, a few loose parameters, and three months to dream up and produce whatever they wanted. What resulted was a cohesive collection of thoughtfully designed quilted goods that are anything but scrappy.

SCRAP Collection

Over 100 one of a kind quilts, wall quilts, pillows, and pouches thoughtfully designed by our production team and made entirely of Vacilando fabric remnants.
